Bloom
The World Health Organization’s report, using data from 2018–2020, reveals that one in three school-aged children in the European Region, including Italy, is affected by overweight or obesity.
Bloom is a specialized program focused on empowerment through nutrition, uniquely framed within the context of artistic engagement. It is predicated on the notion that nutritional well-being is intrinsically linked to broader social and emotional health, and that art serves as an innovative medium to deepen this understanding. Through its multifaceted educational framework, BLOOM employs the arts as both a lens and a methodology to explore, elucidate, and enhance nutritional principles. By intertwining art and nutrition in this manner, the program not only enriches individual and community understanding of healthy dietary practices but also fosters a more holistic sense of well-being.

Exhibition program
Our curatorial approach is designed to directly address the specific characteristics of individual communities, with the intent to make a meaningful impact. This approach is evident in a suite of programs that integrate art, social justice, and environmental awareness. Our initiatives span from exhibitions and artist residencies to specially commissioned projects, particularly in the culturally rich landscapes of Umbria and Venice and not only. These programs revolve around two key tenets: the convergence of art with environmental ethics, and the role of art as an active agent in promoting eco-sustainable social justice.

ERA for Istituto della Pietà in Venice
Launched in 2022, our project at the Istituto della Pieta is meticulously designed to meet the unique needs of its community, including children and teenagers with special needs from ages 2 to 18, as well as mothers with young children. Central to our mission is addressing the critical gap of inadequate healthy nutrition and the lack of effective trauma processing among children with special needs. ERA’s innovative approach integrates art into programs like Bloom, Leadership, and Exhibitions to enhance eco-sustainable food awareness and facilitate trauma recovery. The effectiveness of these interventions is evaluated through observed improvements in the children’s nutritional habits and their emotional well-being.
Istituto della Pietà
The Istituto Provinciale per l’Infanzia “Santa Maria della Pietà” in Venice, founded in 1346, continues its historical mission of aiding minors and mothers in difficulty, evolving to address multi-ethnic and intercultural challenges today. It gained fame for its all-woman orchestra and the musical education it provided to abandoned and orphaned girls. The institution is closely associated with Antonio Vivaldi, who composed much of his sacred music for performances at the Pietà. The current church of Santa Maria della Pietà, adjacent to the original site, showcases significant architectural and artistic contributions from the 18th century, including works by Tiepolo.

The training of social assistants, mothers, and teenagers from the community led by dr. Mirela Pribac Cingolani is fundamental to the Bloom program at the Istituto della Pietà in Venice, ensuring the initiative’s success and lasting impact.
The therapeutic garden project, led by Michela Valerio and Agostino Vazzoler within the Bloom initiative, focuses on transforming the institution’s green spaces. Targeting the young women and teenagers of the community, this effort emphasizes empowering them through active participation in sustainable practices, making sustainability both achievable and engaging.
Specialized museum education programs in collaborations with Venetian museums such as Guggenheim, Ca’ Pesaro, and the Gallerie dell’Accademia on themes of nutrition and body positivity are integral to the program.
Our pedagogy in workshops for children and teenagers leverages art, grounded in the latest trauma-informed nutrition research. We use experiential educational approach which also include making art, cooking, dancing, creating menus. We harness exhibitions like “The Rock in Murky Waters” at Archivi della Misericordia in Venice (December 2022). Our hands-on approach actively involved the young community of Istituto della Pietà in the entire exhibition process.
